The following is a typical schedule, with the guide fine tuning the plan according to the prevailing weather conditions and the experience of the group. Day 1: Welcome at Almi´s Berghotel. After dinner: Preview of the activities of the week. Day 2: The guide hands out and adjusts the booked equipment. Introduction to standard equipment for snowshoeing. Training tour – technique for walking uphill, learning about slope angle and snow types, how to use avalnche emergency equipment: transceiver search, probing, shovel strategy. Planning the next day. Day 3:- 5: Training snowshoe tours. Exercises on tour: avalanche bulletin, how to find the best track uphill and the best run downhill, standards in ascent and descent, avalanche rescue scenario (transceiver search, pin point, shovel strategy), forms and nature of terrain, orientation and weather observation. Planning the next day. Day 6: Final snowshoe tour to a low summit. After dinner: reflections of the week. Day 7: Farewell after breakfast In the evenings, there will be lectures on how to plan a snow shoe tour and safety issues: Avalanche Awareness based on the AV Strategy ‘’Stop or Go©’’ and Alpine Weather.
